Waterford woman killed in Dec. 21 car accident
An 80-year-old Waterford Township woman was killed in a car crash on Wednesday, Dec. 21, that also sent a 21-year-old West Bloomfield woman and two young children to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to a Waterford Township Police Department press release, the woman was traveling southbound on Telegraph Road near Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford at around 10 a.m. when her 2004 Chrysler Concord crossed into the northbound lanes, striking a 2004 Chevrolet Impala carrying the West Bloomfield woman and the children.
The young woman and children are expected to make a full recovery. The 80-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.
According to police, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident, which took place around 10 a.m. All involved were wearing seatbelts or in child safety seats.

“alcohol does not appear to be a factor”
I bet the driver’s age was a factor.
Elderly people need to have their licenses revoked before they can kill or injure someone.
Eighty years old is way too old to be driving.
AJ you are correct. All states should give driving test to the elderly after age 65 and they must renew every two years. I have read too many articles where an elderly person has killed someone while driving.
AJ,
Remember this. When you turn 80 and someone comes to revoke your license, I suspect you will be ticked off. Far more people die from texting and phone calls while driving then being hit by an elderly driver. If the driver happened to by 35 and crossed the median (which does happen) would you be as adamant about revoking licenses?
Crash,
If I turn 80 then I won’t still be driving. It’s called having some common sense (which is actually becoming less and less common these days) and not endangering the public.
Also, driving Grandpa around sounds like a good use of kids and grand kids! ;c)
Finally, with the way things are going, there will soon be laws against using cell phones while driving. So hopefully even more lives will be saved.
