Waterford crash claims life of Pontiac man, 26
A rollover accident that occurred on Cooley Lake Road near McDougal in Waterford Township during the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 13 resulted in the death of a 26-year-old Pontiac man.
The incident took place at about 12:08 a.m., according to a Waterford Police Department press release.
An initial investigation by Waterford police and fire officials revealed that the victim, Aaron Boyle, was driving a 2001 Ford Excursion and traveling eastbound on Cooley Lake Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the road, striking a ditch on the north side of Cooley Lake Road.
The impact caused the vehicle to roll over, ejecting Boyle from the car.
The passenger, a 32-year-old man from Waterford, did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.
Both men were transported to an area hospital, where Boyle was pronounced deceased. The passenger was held for observation. Airbags in the Excursion were deployed and neither subject was wearing a seat belt, according to Waterford police.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident, but the case is still under investigation, according to Waterford Police.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Officer Mathewson at 248-618-6086, or Sergeant Dolehanty at 248-618-6057.
