Warrants issued in Rolladium shooting; police suspect gang involvement

Waterford Township police now believe that the Friday, Dec. 23 shooting of five people at the Rolladium skating rink was gang-related and have identified a second person believed to be involved in the early-morning incident.

Township law enforcement officials announced on Saturday, Jan. 7 that they believe that one of the shooting victims, a rival to the three alleged shooters, was an intended target. The victim was also shot during a similar incident at a Pontiac nightclub in December 2010.

Police believe two rival gangs — the Goon Squad and 1st Enfantry [sic] — are involved in the shooting that took place during a pre-Christmas skating party and wounded a 20-year-old White Lake Township female, as well as a 20-year-old man, another 20-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man, all from Pontiac.

They all sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to area hospitals.

Police named 18-year-old Pontiac resident Robert Lee German as a suspect in the days following the shooting. On Jan. 7, police released the identity of 17-year-old Cheyenne Benjamin Ingram of Pontiac, who is also wanted in connection with the incident.

According to police, Ingram was arrested and charge in Waterford in October on gun and drug charges after fleeing on foot from a police officer following a traffic stop. At the time of the Rolladium shooting, he was on probation under the parameters of the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which allows a judge to place a person between 17- and 20-years-old on probation without a conviction in order to avoid a criminal record.

Arrest warrants for Ingram and German have been authorized. They are wanted for assault with intent to murder; possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony; carrying concealed weapons; and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

In addition, because of the gang affiliations and history of violence, police are finding people reluctant to cooperate with the investigation into the Rolladium shooting. Police also believe friends or family may be harboring the individuals allegedly responsible.

All three suspects in the shooting — including one unnamed one — remain at large. Police are looking for the public’s helping in locating German and Ingram, as well as identifying a third suspect.

Each is considered armed and dangerous. Police are advising people not to approach or attempt to apprehend them, but rather to contact police at 248-618-7550 with any information on their whereabouts.
