Tuesday events at Clara Miller Park get kids bouncing
Wolverine Lake and its Parks and Recreation Board will host a series of family-focused activities during “Tuesdays in the Park,” which will be held at Clara Miller Park on Tuesday, July 19 and Aug. 16, weather permitting.
Clara Miller Park is located on Benstein Road south of Glengary .
The Oakland County Recreation Assistance Partnership Outreach Program will co-sponsor the event, lending its inflatables and bouncers for kids to enjoy.
The events run from 6:30-8:30 p.m., an hour later than last year to accommodate working parents.
“Last year the event ran from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. but working residents weren’t able to spend much time at the event, so we extended the hours,” said Parks and Recreation Board Member Phil Peters.
On Saturday, July 16, children can play on the inflatable Seymour the Serpent and the Dudley the Dino slide and bouncer.
Then on Aug. 16, kids can jump to their delight on a giant bouncer.
Light refreshments will be served.
The series has been scaled back compared to how it was in past years due to low levels of volunteerism.
“We had to cut back because of a lack of volunteers,” Peters said. “We used to hold one every Tuesday in the summer.”
However, Peters added that the event series attracts a large group of kids who thoroughly enjoy it.
“It’s free entertainment for the kids in the village — they have a riot,” Peters said.
Children must be wearing socks to use the equipment.
