Tiki torches thrown into Wixom retention pond

A malicious destruction of property incident that occurred in the 2280 block of Chief Lane in Wixom on Saturday, Feb. 4, is being attributed to a pair of minors residing in the neighborhood.

The victim had noticed that all of the tiki torches surrounding her pool were removed and discarded in a nearby retention pond. She mentioned the incident to her neighbor, who said he saw two juveniles committing the crime and yelled for them to stop. The children, whom he recognized, fled the scene.

One of the juveniles was between 12- and 13-years-old while the other was between 9- and 10-years-old.

Police attempted to contact the children’s parents, but no one was home at the time.

The woman has requested reimbursement for the 10 ruined tiki torches that are valued between $8 and $10 each.
