Shop With a Hero in Waterford helps 86 needy children

The Waterford Township Police Department, along with Meijer, the Waterford Coalition for Youth and the Williams Lake Church of the Nazarene, helped 86 needy children — including the 5-year-old boy pictured above — from the Waterford School District during the fifth annual Shop With a Hero event held on Saturday, Dec. 17.  An 80-year-old Waterford Township woman was killed in a car crash on Wednesday, Dec. 21, that also sent a 21-year-old West Bloomfield woman and two young children to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Waterford Township police continue to investigate a fatal accident that occurred on Dixie Highway near Shoreline Drive on Saturday, Dec. 3. Waterford police, schools awarded security grant

The Waterford Police Department and Waterford School District are the recipients of a $188,512 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Secure Our Schools Program.
