Man, 19, critical after being shot in the face

No injuries reported in Commerce garage fire

Commerce Township firefighters arrived at a residence in the 1800 block of Marella Lane to find an attached garage engulfed in flames at 7:28 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. The garage was attached to a tri-level home. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes with assistance from the Walled Lake Fire Department. Dec. 2 car fire began in the passenger seat

Commerce Township Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 2:58 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 in the 8100 block of Cooley Lake Road. According to the homeowner, the vehicle had not been driven for over a week. Firefighters determined that the fire started in the vehicle’s passenger seat. The blaze is being further investigated.

Commerce board split on budget over wage issue

The Commerce Township Board Trustees is at a bit of an impasse as the board looks to adopt the township’s 2012 budget. So far, one presented spending plan has been voted down, while another was tabled at a meeting earlier this month. Golf carts stolen from Union Lake Golf Course

Two gas carts were stolen from the Union Lake Golf Course in Commerce Township on the night of Saturday, Nov. 19. The following Monday morning, the owner of the golf course, John Schlicht, noticed that the security cables had been cut and the gas-powered carts were missing. Deer put down after hitting patrol vehicle

 An Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Commerce Township substation deputy was traveling westbound on Maple Road near Sycamore Court in his patrol vehicle a little after midnight on Sunday, Nov. 13 when the passenger-side door was struck by a deer. While the deputy was unhurt and the vehicle only sustained minor damage to the passenger door, rear quarter-panel and bumper, the deputy had to put the deer down by discharging a firearm.

Bay Pointe golf course damaged in vandalism

 The Bay Pointe Golf Course at Union Lake and Richardson roads in Commerce Township was the target of vandalism on the night of Thursday, Nov. 3. According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Commerce Township substation incident report, a golf tee sign was torn from its post, resulting in approximately $1,200 in damage.
