Eaglets, Captains lose two; Lakeland splits contests
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s dropped two games last week to fall to 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the Catholic League Central Division.
The Eaglets began the week with a 65-46 loss at Novi Detroit Catholic Central on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Sam McClendon led St. Mary’s with 17 points while Kyle Cooper had 24 points for the Shamrocks.
St. Mary’s then fell at home to Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice, 43-40, on Friday, Feb. 10.
The Eaglets led 25-16 at halftime before the Warriors outscored them 27-15 in the second half.
Ethan Woelke had 14 points for the Eaglets, while Chibunna Ukandu had 10.
Dillon Dietz had 12 points for Brother Rice. Joey Warner had 10.
St. Mary’s expected to host Detroit Jesuit yesterday, Tuesday, Feb. 14 and will face either Brother Rice or Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard in a Catholic League A-B Division quarter-final on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Bloomfield Hills Marian.

Walled Lake Northern defeated Waterford Kettering, 90-58, at home on Friday, Feb. 10 to finish third in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division at 7-3.
Kettering led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter before the Knights (11-4) went on a 34-8 run in the second quarter to take a 48-24 halftime lead.
Jared Sheena led the Knights with 21 points while Trent Lansaw and Leo Susick each had 14 points.
Noah Stinson had 19 points for Kettering (0-14, 0-10).
Northern was coming off a 56-45 loss to Walled Lake Central on Feb. 7 in which Ryan Soulet had 11 points.
Northern was scheduled to play at Brighton yesterday, Tuesday, Feb. 14 in a KLAA crossover game and will play at Grand Blanc on Friday, Feb. 17 in a KLAA Lakes Conference quarter-final game.

Walled Lake Western defeated Huron Valley Lakeland on the road, 50-43, on Friday, Feb. 10.
Aaron Prim and Cam Vieux each had 12 points for Western (8-6, 4-6 KLAA North), which will play at Huron Valley Milford in a KLAA Lakes Conference tournament game on Friday, Feb. 17.

Huron Valley Lakeland defeated Waterford Kettering on the road in overtime, 61-57, on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Casey Palanca had 11 points for Lakeland (3-13, 2-8), while Ross Heiman had 10 points.
Justin Santana had 19 points for the Captains. Maurice Scott scored 14.

West Bloomfield fell at home to Farmington Hills Harrison on Thursday, Feb. 9 to fall to 3-10.
Jake Daniels had 13 points for West Bloomfield.
