Closure of Liberty OK’d for Milford’s Farmers Market

A stretch of Liberty Street will be closed in Milford Village on Thursdays from May 10 through Oct. 18 in order to present the Milford Farmers Market, following recent action by the Milford Village Council.

During that time frame, vendors will line Liberty Street between Main and Union streets from 3 to 8 p.m.

There is no word yet on what will be on hand for the 2012 version of the Farmers Market, but the market traditionally features a wide variety of food for visitors, including heirloom tomatoes and peppers, gourmet flavored butter, fresh produce, jams and pies.

Other items that are usually on hand include organic skin care products, crocheted purses, hand-woven baskets, and even massages.

Vendors interested in participating in the market can fill out an online application at milfordfarmersmarket.org, where they will have to indicate what days they will be attending and what items they plan on selling.

A vendor booth fee is $20 per week for one space.

The Farmers Market also is known for holding children’s activities, special demonstrations and special events. It also welcomes non-profit organizations to appear.

The Milford Farmers Market is a member of the Michigan Farmers Market Association.
