Village exits pact with Walled Lake for police services
The Wolverine Lake Village Council has decided to pull out of a joint police services agreement with Walled Lake that was set to expire June 30, 2013. The decision was unanimously approved at the Village Council’s Wednesday, April 13 meeting. Council tacks six more months on medical pot ban
The Wixom City Council has extended by six months a moratorium on all land uses involving the growth/cultivation of medical marijuana in the city. This is the second time the council has voted to extend the medical marijuana moratorium. Hospitality House to hold 5th annual ‘Millionaires Party’

George hired as Orchard Lake’s new police chief
Orchard Lake officials introduced and swore in a new police chief, Joe George, at the City Council’s Monday, April 18 meeting. Oakley Park turn lane OK’d for use of Tri-party funds
The Commerce Township Board of Trustees unanimously voted at their Tuesday, April 12 meeting to use Tri-party funds to add a right-turn lane at the westbound Oakley Park Road intersection with South Commerce Road. Adding a right-turn lane at an intersection has a general cost of $100,000 per approach. Park to welcome green thumbs at organic garden

Highland board taps fire marshal to serve on DDA
Doug Bourgeois was appointed to the Highland Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board by the township Board of Trustees on Wednesday, April 13. Bourgeois, who is currently a fire marshal with the Highland Township Fire Department, will be finishing out the term of Doreen Kosieracki, who stepped down earlier this year. Sturgeon tapped to fill vacated council position
Walled Lake City Councilman Edmund Bennett tendered his resignation at the Tuesday, April 5 council meeting, indicating he won’t fulfill his term in office set to expire in November 2011. The City Council has appointed Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board Chairman William Sturgeon as Bennett’s replacement, effective immediately.
