WLC student will benefit from event at Uptown Grille

The West Bloomfield Schools Board of Education will look to approve a contract for its new Superintendent, Dr. Gerald Hill, at a special meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, May 18 in the West Bloomfield High School Media Center. Two local boards approve new bullying policies

Both the Waterford and West Bloomfield school districts have passed revised policies in regards to bullying. The West Bloomfield Schools Board of Education approved its updated policy at its Monday, April 30 meeting, while the Waterford Schools Board of Education followed suit at its Thursday, May 4 meeting. WB accepts 174 Schools of Choice students via lottery

The West Bloomfield School District held a Schools of Choice lottery on Wednesday, May 2 to fill seats kindergarten through second-grade classrooms across the district. “Our Schools of Choice Lottery awarded positions to 174 applicants out of 265 who applied,” said Pamela Zajac, the school district’s public relations and marketing coordinator. “All elementary buildings had available seats. Hill named as new superintendent for W. Bloomfield

The West Bloomfield Schools Board of Education has found a successor to take over for retiring Superintendent Dr. JoAnn Andrees. After holding open interviews with four finalists on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, the school board selected Dr. Gerald D. Huron Valley Oak Valley Middle School students are headed for the world championship Destination ImagiNation competition, an event involving team-based creative problem solving. Waterford district enters contract for 11 school buses

The Waterford School District Board of Education at its Thursday, May 3 meeting approved a three-year lease agreement with Capital City Transportation for the use of 11 school buses. The district will dole out $130,163 annually under the contract with Capital City in order to use the buses, which will each seat 71 passengers. District buys four 77-passenger buses for $340K

 The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Board of Education agreed to purchase four new school buses at its meeting held on Thursday, May 3. Back in February, the school board adopted a resolution to participate in the Michigan School Bus Officials (MSBO) Aggregate Bus Purchasing Program, which allows schools districts to purchase quality buses at competitive prices. A pair of west Oakland County robotics teams traveled to St. Louis, Mo. along with 400 other teams for the FIRST Robotics Competition world championship that was held between Wednesday, April 25 and Sunday, April 29 at the Edward Jones Dome.
