Community Sharing Chosen As THAW Site

Community Sharing has been chosen as a THAW (The Heat and Warming Fund) site.  On Tuesday, March 19th – 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. CS will be able to assist with utility assistance to low income families.  This is in conjunction with Consumers Energy.  Assistance can range up to $525 per utility (gas and electric.)

Eligiblity: Past due balance, shut off notice or service disconnected. Account balance cannot exceed $4,000 for combined accounts/$2000 for single accounts. Account must be in applicant’s name and he/she must live at the service address. Customer paid $225 on single/$450 on combined accounts within past 6 months. Proof of household income required. Income must be at or below 200% of the current Federal Poverty Level ($22,340 for a single person, $30,260 for a family of two, $38,180 for a family of three, $46,100 for a family of four, $54.020 for a family of five.)

Applicants must bring these documents: Utility Bill, Current Michigan State ID or Driver’s License (must match address on account) Proof of household income, DHS Decision Notice (if you have a shut off notice.)
