Lucky students got a chance to make their teachers even sweeter. On February 14th, students at Oak Valley Middle School had the opportunity to make their teachers into a human sundae. Ms. Chema, Mr. Haren and Mrs Francis were covered in chocolate syrup, whipped cream, ice cream and sprinkles. All 260 students were able to witness this in the gym at the Valentine’s Day dance.
Mrs. Ferguson, the director of the dance claimed, “It is good for students to see that teachers do have a fun side.” She thought it was a great way to get the teachers and students involved in fun, interactive activities. She also agreed that it was a unique way to earn money for the school.
Mrs. Francis, one of the human sundaes said, “Although it was sweet to be chosen to be part of the ice cream sundae, it was a sticky, cold, messy experience. I have decided that it’s more enjoyable to eat an ice cream sundae then to be an ice cream sundae!”
Mr. Haren remarked, “It was awesome, especially when the chocolate syrup was dripping in my ear! I would do anything to support my school and my students.” Ms. Chema, the Associate Principal, was also one of the volunteer sundaes. She said, “I thought it would be fun and it was! I was surprised at how cold my head became after the ice cream sat on it. The experience was fun for everyone involved and let the teachers show their “fun” side.”
