It is pathetic that mostly Democrats and left wing groups like MoveOn would use a horrific tragedy such as happened in New Town to try and usurp the second amendment of our constitution. Blaming the guns makes as much sense as blaming the cars by which far more people die.

Mental health is a problem that is not properly addressed. It is very difficult to remove someone that is mentally unstable from society, as it should be, but there should be a way to ensure that people get needed treatment without the lawyers getting in the way!

False analogy as cars are not designed for the specific purpose of killing – unlike guns. Further, cars are under strict federal regulation already – again, unlike guns. I could go on, but you get the point.

Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens are used to defend oneself from being killed, your characterization is sloppy. Where did you ever get the idea that guns aren’t highly regulated at the federal, state, county and even city level? There are thousands of gun laws on the books and criminals ignore all of them. As there is no practical way to disarm THEM, regular folks needs guns to defend themselves.

The number of times a gun owner ‘defends’ him/herself pales in comparison to the number of supposed ‘accidental shootings’ that occur each year. Visit any gun show and you’ll likely be able to legally purchase whatever firearms in whatever quantities you like without any sort of checks or regulation. Regular folks, even ones with guns, won’t be able stop a determined criminal with an assault weapon and a large capacity ammo clip.

The fact is that having a gun doesn’t deter criminal behavior – especially if the criminal is suicidal.

MoveOn people are weird and strangely rigid in their thinking. They need to have some light put on them.
