WLCSD names Dr. Sheryl Kennedy Principal of Geisler Middle School

Dr. Sheryl Kennedy, a 24-year veteran educator and administrator, has been named principal at James Geisler Middle School. She replaces Colleen Sturgill, interim and previous principal at Geisler Middle School.

Dr. Sheryl Kennedy officially began her career with Walled Lake Schools Monday, Jan. 28.

Kennedy was assistant principal at Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham Public Schools, for the past three years. Prior to that, she taught in Davison for nine years, Armada for nine years, and began teaching vocal music in Seattle, Washington.

She earned a Doctorate Degree in Teacher Leadership and Administration from Oakland University, a Master’s Degree from Marygrove College, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Seattle Pacific University.

“Dr. Kennedy has a deep understanding of student data, the Professional Learning Community process, and the critical role collaboration with teachers has in student achievement. I feel she has the essential skills, passion, communication acumen, and leadership expertise to successfully serve the Geisler Middle School community,” Kenneth Gutman, Superintendent, said.
