Mott hammers Lahser; Central and Northern fall

Waterford Mott defeated Bloomfield Hills Lahser on the road, 48-15, on Friday, Nov. 30 to open the season.

The Corsairs led 21-7 in the first quarter and 32-8 at halftime. Lauren Hung led Mott with 12 points while Vanessa Bolling had 10 and Alex Yarmuth had 9 points.

Cristyn Pawluk also had 17 rebounds for the Corsairs, who played at Pontiac yesterday, Tuesday, Dec. 4 after press time and will play their home opener against Berkley on Friday, Dec. 7.

Novi defeated Walled Lake Central at home, 61-21, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, while Walled Lake Northern fell at home to Royal Oak, 59-47, on the same night.

Walled Lake Central will be hosting its inaugural Toys For Tots Tipoff Tournament beginning tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 6, in which fans can gain free admission to each game by donating a new, unwrapped toy at the entrance.

The Vikings will host St. Catherine Academy at 8 p.m. after the game between Gabriel Richard Catholic and South Lyon at 6 p.m.

On Friday, Dec. 7, the junior-varsity portion of the tournament will take place with Central taking on West Bloomfield at 8 p.m. after the game between South Lyon and Gabriel Richard Catholic.

Then on Saturday, Dec. 8, the JV consolation and championship games will be played at noon and 1:30 p.m., respectively, while the varsity consolation and championship games will be played at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
