$25,000 in damages caused by house fire

The cause of a Tuesday, Nov. 27 early-morning house fire in the 900 block of Tecumseh in Waterford Township remains under investigation.

According to a Waterford Regional Fire Department press release, firefighters responded to a 911 call about the blaze around 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a two-story home with flames showing from the front of the house. Firefighters from Engine No. 3 entered the home and found the fire to be in the kitchen, and worked quickly to extinguish the flames.

Fire damage was limited to the kitchen but smoke had spread throughout the home, according to the press release. A ventilation fan was used to move smoke out of the home.

Fire damage is estimated at $25,000, according to the release.

The occupants were given cash assistance for their immediate needs by the Waterford Firefighters Local No. 1335 Fire Relief Fund.
