After an exciting regular season, the lakes area’s volleyball teams will now hit the court to begin play in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Class A state tournament this week.
Last season, Huron Valley Lakeland triumphed on its home floor to win a Class A district title for the third straight year.
Now fresh off winning the Kensington Lakes Activities Association’s (KLAA) North Division and Lakes Conference titles this season, the Eagles faced a tough first-round draw against the KLAA North’s second-place team, Walled Lake Central, yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 30 after press time.
The winner will face Walled Lake Western tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 1 at North Farmington.
Meanwhile, Walled Lake Northern faced host North Farmington in a first-round matchup yesterday after press time. The winner will face Farmington Hills Harrison today, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The North Farmington district final is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2.
Meanwhile, Huron Valley Milford is in the Fowlerville district and will face KLAA West Division rival Howell on Thursday, with the winner playing in the district final the next night, Nov. 2.
West Bloomfield is in the Birmingham Seaholm district and played host Seaholm yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 30 after press time, with the winner playing Bloomfield Hills Andover tomorrow.
The Seaholm district final is Saturday, Nov. 3.
And finally, Waterford Kettering and Waterford Mott are in the Troy district, as Kettering played against Auburn Hills Avondale on Monday, Oct. 29 after press time, with the winner facing Troy Athens tonight, Oct. 31.
Mott played against Pontiac on Monday, Oct. 29 after press time, with the winner facing host Troy tonight, Oct. 31.
The Troy district final is tomorrow, Nov. 1.
