Auto industry thrives

President Obama rescued the auto industry and saved 1 million jobs in the process. There are now 2.5 million people employed in the U.S. automobile industry, up from 2.3 million in August 2009.

In the past 12 months, (the) 3.3 million cars and light trucks sold by General Motors (GM) and Chrysler are up from the 2.9 million sold the previous year. General Motors reported record profits in 2011. GM is currently the world’s biggest auto manufacturer and expects to add 167,000 jobs by 2015.

There is more good news on the horizon. General Motors will soon add 2,000 jobs in Michigan. Information technology jobs will account for 1,500 of these positions. It appears that recent graduates of southeastern Michigan’s college and universities will likely become the beneficiaries of 30 percent of these jobs.

If Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had his way, he would have “let Detroit go bankrupt.”

    Sorry, but are yet another un-informed IDIOT American who believes each and every piece of propoganda this administration well as the media outlets that they subsidize print.

    Do you realize that when the feds bailed out 2 of the big 3 that they also forced a completely new and reduced wage scale onto the UAW? Did you realize that nearly 40% of GM’s alleged “increase in sales” were primarily government purchases by the federal government on no-bid contracts that were at a monster premium compared to other auto makers so it was guaranteed that Gm would post a profit? Are you also aware that while GM is all the sudden making record profits (at taxpayer expense) that they have been allowed to waive nearly 30 billion in repayments of their bailout to US TAXPAYERS that funded said bailouts? All while the exact same management who ran GM into the ground were allowed to keep their jobs post bankruptcy and bailout?
    Sorry idiot….. But the list of “facts” is far longer than the space available here will allow and contrary to what you think, Obammays “donation” to the rich for them getting richer while running a large corporation into the ground, well as us taxpayers now purchasing 40 BILLION of mortage backed securities from US banks (which check your history lesson and short memory there moron….. Is one of the #1 things that got the entire global economy into the abyss that it’s currently in) has quite a different “reality” than the cool aid that you like so many other moronic americans read and take for truth in todays media outlets. Save this post because if your “boy” ad his group of communistic whack jobs get re-elected, GM will go bankrupy once again, and you, I and every other American taxpayer are once again going to be on the hook with even more debt, borrowed money from China and the fed printing even more absolutely worthless paper money.

      What the US government gave GM and Chrysler is peanuts compared to the many hundreds of billions of dollars that the Chinese government annually gives to Chinese businesses.

      Just to “level” the playing field, the US government would have to give even more money to even more US businesses so that they can monetarily compete with China’s government-backed ones.

      So while you complain about small (by comparison) US government auto bailouts, the Chinese government is “investing” far more money into their own companies – thus further tilting the trade imbalance in their favor.

      And no one (nor any president) can stop them from doing so.

    Listen to Don. You need to break the cycle of reading and believing the “feel good” stuff. Your right in one of your statements. Mitt Romney would have let G.M. and Chrysler go to BK……as they did anyway. He would have let them do it BEFORE my $800 BILLION bailout. Obama is a loser. He’s NEVER had a job. He is a muslim. He believes in wealth redistribution (by now, you haven’t been able to avoid those words coming from his mouth). Communism doesn’t work, yet Barry Soerto thinks we should try it here in the U.S. Obama does not love America as JFK, or Teddy Rosevelt did. He is different, in a BAD way. We need sheep like you to stop breeding and stop voting. The world is much different once you pull your head out of the sand.
