W. Bloomfield moves to 6-0 in OAA Blue Division

 West Bloomfield won two matches last week and currently sit atop the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Blue Division with 18 points and a 6-0 division record.

The Lakers (10-3-1) began their week by defeating Oxford, 3-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 11 on the road.

Vikram Mathias and Damon Grace each scored for the Lakers.

West Bloomfield then followed up with an 8-0 thrashing of Bloomfield Hills Lathrup on Thursday, Sept. 13.

The Lakers then played three matches on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Pontiac Notre Dame Prep Varsity Tournament, tying with Birmingham Groves, 1-1, before falling to Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, 1-0, and defeating Flushing, 2-0.

Walled Lake Central defeated Huron Valley Lakeland, 5-0, on Thursday, Sept. 13 to move into a first-place tie atop the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division.

Nick Marsh and Mark Gjura each scored two goals for the Vikings, while Bryan Maxwell also scored a goal.

Central began its week with a 3-0 shutout of Waterford Mott on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Marsh, Gjura and Joey Miller each scored a goal, with Denny Heyn picking up the shutout in net.

Walled Lake Western defeated Waterford Mott, 2-0, on Thursday, Sept. 13 to improve to 3-1 in the KLAA North Division with 9 points.

Mike Camilleri and Oleh Kosak each scored for Western, while Jimmy Hague earned the shutout in net.

Mott is now 1-7-2.

The Warriors also defeated Waterford Kettering, 3-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Lakeland defeated Hartland, 4-1, in a KLAA crossover match on Friday, Sept. 14, as Nick Kemennu earned a hat trick while Kyle Capstick also scored a goal for the Eagles, who are now 2-5-1 and 0-3-1 in the KLAA North with 2 points.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s went 1-2 last week as it defeated Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard at home, 2-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

However, the Eaglets would fall to Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, 2-1, at home on Thursday, Sept. 13 before falling 4-2 to Berkley on Saturday, Sept. 15.

St. Mary’s is now 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the Detroit Catholic League.
