People deserve truth

From Mark Abbott, Commerce Township:

This is a non-partisan basic math letter. The four biggest expenditures of government — Social Security, defense spending, public assistance, and Medicare dwarf anything else in the budget. Unless large cuts are made to these four big budget items, please don’t expect our financial crisis to go away. Neither party’s economic plans do anything to address the problem for one reason — they will not be elected.

No one wants to vote for a candidate that will take away their much deserved Social Security and Medicare benefits — and rightly so. Regardless, people deserve to know the truth — neither candidate is being honest with the American people.

We will most likely do exactly what Greece is experiencing now — waiting until “austerity measures” have to take place. God help us.

As I do agree that those are the biggest expenditures in our government there are hundreds of other ways to decrease the budget. When your trillions in debt then common sense needs to come to order, which in our government is never a priority. We as Americans know that we are gonna spend billions on government services, it’s the billions in waste that we need to get under control. I could get into an endless list of government waste but would it really do any good. The one item I will list is get rid of is all the government vehicles. There is no reason why these people need to have a vehicle basically given to them. Or a limo to drive them around. Cut out the vehicles and you get rid of gas expenditures, ridiculous insurance rates that the government is charged and repair maintenance equaling billions. Their not working in the private sector and should realize their spending tax payers dollars and I far as I’m concerned I don’t want my tax dollars going in their gas tank when it could go in my own. And it’s not like their not making GOOD wages and can afford to own and drive their own vehicle to work like the rest of America.

Gov’t vehicles, wage decreases (we’ve all taken them or know someone who has), goverment funded health care, pension….shall I go on? the wasteful spending of our government at all levels is wreckless and shameful. what other career field can you get into where your pay isn’t performance based and your helath care & pension are guaranteed? We need to stand up to our elected officials and make a change. they work for us…don’t they??
