(UPDATED: 4:13 a.m.) Long-time RCOC worker, 58, killed in Milford car accident

A 58-year-old Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) worker was killed when his RCOC-issued truck overturned at Hickory Ridge Trail and Pearson Road in Milford Township yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Milford first responders were called to the scene around 1:30 p.m. yesterday after receiving a 911 call from a passing motorist.

Responders from the Milford police and fire departments determined that the driver, described as a “long-serving veteran” of the RCOC, was trapped in the cab of the truck. Huron Valley Ambulance workers helped extricate the man from the RCOC vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Accident Investigation Team assisted the Milford Police Department at the scene, and Milford Police Chief Thomas Lindberg said in a press release that joint resources will be used to determine the cause of the single-vehicle accident yesterday that closed the intersection of Hickory Ridge and Pearson for approximately three hours.

The RCOC had not issued any information on the accident prior to this posting.

This is a developing story. We’ll bring you more information when it comes in.
