Fire at former missile site probed in Commerce

 The Commerce Township Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the abandoned Nike missile site on Wise Road Wednesday, June 13 around 2:11 p.m.

According to Fire Chief Joe Schornack, investigators believe the fire was sparked by an arsonist. The fire that burned at an abandoned control and barracks structure was investigated by the Commerce Township Fire Department and an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department fire investigator.

Schornack said there are currently no suspects.

    This has happened more times than you can count.

    Commerce Township should look into cleaning up this obvious safety hazard.

    How would Joe Schornack know what goes on with the fire dept, this man is a lousy fire chief that should never have been hired. Just another one of Tom Zoners little puppets. Figure it out Joe. Every year when the kids get out of school, the place goes up in flames. With all the money Zoner thinks the twp has, he needs to not only clean up that vacent property, but the old Erics party store at Commerce and Carrol lake road.
