Cigarette or cigar the cause of Dixie grass fire

Waterford Township firefighters extinguished a grass fire that occurred on Friday, June 8 along the west side of Dixie Highway, south of Hatchery Road, adjacent to the railroad tracks in that area.

The fire started around 2 p.m., but was controlled and extinguished about 20 minutes later.

Firefighter/Engineer Greg Quick attributed the fire to a discarded cigar or cigarette.

There were no injuries or property damage as a result of the fire.
