Biker, 85, crashes into LaFontaine dealership

A motorcyclist crashed into three parked vehicles at the LaFontaine Nissan dealership in Highland Township on 3:37 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.

The 85-year-old rider from Orion Township on a 2001 Kawaski motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Highland Road when he was struck by a 2005 Ford Escape that was changing lanes west of Highland Park Drive.

The motorcyclist then struck the vehicles in the dealership lot.

He was seriously injured and taken to McLaren-Oakland Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He had been wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Ford Escape is a 21-year-old Lyon Township resident.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
