Obama's record

From Eric Nagler, Commerce Township:

I have a few questions for Denise “Chip” Black (“Supporting Obama,” April 25, 2012 Mail Bag section), who thinks that our president deserves another four years in office because of his wonderful track record.

Why is he refusing to talk about this record wherever and whenever he speaks to the American people? Do you hear him talking about health care, Dodd-Frank, the massive new regulations from the (Environmental Protection Agency), or the unemployment rate, just for starters? Could it be because his record after 39 months is so pathetic that his only option is to continue to practice a policy of divisiveness by denigrating anyone who dares to suggest that a bigger government and massive spending are not the answers to the country’s problems?

Think about it.

One Response to Obama's record

Apparently, Eric Nagler isn’t listening. The Obama campaign, the Obama administration, the Democrats in Congress, and of course Obama himself have been talking exactly about his record.
    * “Osama bin Laden is dead, and General Motors is alive” — that’s two accomplishments that occured since January 2009
    * 25 consecutive months of private employment growth — over 4 million jobs added. Sure, it’s not as great as the 1990′s, but compare it to the job losses through the 2000′s.
    * Health care coverage for millions — people with pre-existing conditions; kids out of college.
    * Closing Pharma’s infamous donut hole — that’s real money in the pockets of seniors
    * Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — consumer protection in this industry
    * Wall Street reform — straining against the finance industry’s efforts to tear down the economy — again
    * Breaking down Al Qaeda — beyond bin Laden, most of the leaders have been “brought to justice” in a concerted effort
    * Equal Pay for Equal Work — oddly, this is an accomplishment — you would have expected it to be obvious, but there was (and is) resistance

Pathetic record? I guess there are some who don’t want others to have these benefits or these protections… who want bin Laden alive, or GM shut down, or Wall Street running amok, or seniors paying more for meds, or more people to lack access to health care. I guess there are some who ask only “What’s in it for me?”, who aren’t much interested in other people’s needs.

If you want to hear the record, you have to listen.
