Students tuning up for Friday performance of 'Music Man'

Walled Lake Central High School students will be performing “The Music Man” beginning this week.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20; Saturday, April 21; Friday, April 27; and Saturday, April 28; and at 2 p.m. on April 21, Sunday, April 22, and April 28.

More than 100 students are involved in the cast, crew and orchestra, including a “junior cast” consisting of 28 students from the Walled Lake Consolidated School District’s elementary and middle schools.

The story involves fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, played by junior Josh Madilk, and his visit to a small Iowa town where he cons the town’s parents into buying uniforms and instruments in order to form the River City Boy’s Band. He unexpectedly falls in love with the local librarian, Marian Paroo, played by senior Lyndsay Burke.

Other lead characters include senior Emily Semroc as Mrs. Paroo; senior Jake Maynard as Marcellus; Luke Reising as Winthrop; senior Skyler Tarnas as Mayor Shinn; senior Cassandra Kerr as Mrs. Shinn; junior Jenna McMillan as Maud; junior Allison Sherbel as Ethel; sophomore Hannah Shuman as Alma; sophomore Gina Pizzo as Zaneeta; senior Garrett Miskotten as Tommy; and sophomore Mitchell Dobson-Green as Charlie.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and senior citizens.
