Celebrate Earth Day

Huron Valley residents: It’s that time of year again, the time when the weather warms up (theoretically) and we celebrate Earth Day.

On behalf of the Green Team of Huron Valley and the Carls Family YMCA in Milford among our other splendid sponsors, we invite our Huron Valley friends to share in the festivities. Earth Day will actually be celebrated on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22 at the Carls YMCA from noon to 4 p.m.

Some of the activities will include: Environmental dance and drumming; the Enviro Art Contest; the Green Fashion Show (featuring International Academy students, Freedom Treasures, and the Salvation Army); and various instrumental players.

Services include: Document shredding, cell phone collection, and used glasses recycling. There will be giveaways (including red and white pine seedlings), nature adventures and the Hybrid Highway.

Environmental groups will show us projects benefiting our natural areas while several vendors will talk about their green products and services.

Of course, Mother Nature will join us for the annual tree planting ceremony.
