Investigate officials

From Michele Berry, Wixom:

I have followed (House Bill) 5187 urging Gov. (Rick) Snyder to veto this partisan act to dilute the vote in our county. Legislators and now this governor (are) disregarding the Court of Appeals and the vote of the people.

Now Public Act 280 of 2011 from county/state Republicans reinforces the statement by (Oakland County) Executive (L. Brooks) Patterson describing his worry and concern of having (an Oakland County Board of Commissioners) where (his party is) not the majority for, as he said, he never had to deal with a minority Republican board.

It is pretty scary to think he felt so uncertain he would propose HB 5187, a bill that takes away the rights of each voter in our previous elections and in future elections in our county and state. It is clear Republicans in our county, state and throughout the country do not understand we cannot be successful as a state or nation unless all views are represented fairly and as the people decided, not by partisan ideological views that in the long term would tear apart the people’s will — becoming harmful in the long term.

Frankly, this power grab should be investigated starting at the top with the (county) executive. Do we really think Mr. Patterson is any different than other elected officials that Republicans investigate (Democrats) or as any bill that Republicans feel the need to take down? Brooks has been fat to long and so has our legislature for they create the laws and hold the purse.

By signing this bill, Gov. Snyder has show his inability to make the right choice for the people playing politics with our

vote. When will we have real representation that respects the people’s vote?
