Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes had a strong week, as it won two matches before taking third-place at the Bloomfield Hills Andover Tournament.
The Lakers began the week with a hard-fought victory at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook in five games, 20-25, 25-12, 18-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Haley Howell had 39 assists, 8 kills and 4 aces for Our Lady, while Lexie Robak had 12 kills, 8 digs and 4 aces.
The Lakers then returned home to face Royal Oak Shrine and defeated the Knights in straight sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.
Howell had 6 kills, 29 assists and 3 blocks while Robak had 16 digs, 11 kills and 4 aces.
Kristina Krupiak had 12 kills, 3 aces and 3 digs while Kelly Meehan had 28 digs.
Our Lady is now 4-1 in the Catholic League East.
The Lakers then traveled to the Andover Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 8 and began pool play by splitting with host Andover before defeating South Lyon East and Madison Heights Lamphere, 25-18, 26-24.
In bracket play, Our Lady defeated South Lyon East, 25-11, 25-18 in the quarter-finals. However, the Lakers fell in the semi-finals to Oakland Christian, 16-25, 27-25, 10-15.
Howell had 20 kills, 53 assists and 5 blocks on the day for the Lakers, while Marina Anderson had 16 kills and 2 blocks.
Valent also had 9 kills and 11 blocks while Meehan had 67 digs.
Our Lady played at Detroit Cristo Rey on Tuesday, Oct. 11 after press time and will travel to Marine City Cardinal Mooney tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 13.

West Bloomfield won its two matches last week, including a victory on Senior Night.
The Lakers began the week with a victory at home over Birmingham Groves in four games, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15.
Jackie Pyles turned in her second double-double of the season with 24 kills and 36 digs along with 4 aces for West Bloomfield (9-15-2, 5-1 Oakland Activities Association White Division).
West Bloomfield then followed up with a straight-set victory over Rochester Adams, 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Lakers also combined for a season high 99 digs, led by Lauren Merchak with 33.
