For four days starting on Thursday, Oct. 20, lakes area residents will have a chance to get great deals on various books, movies, and music.
The Friends of the Commerce Township Library will be hosting its Fall Used Book Sale from Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 23.
The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 20; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22; and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.
A variety of genres and categories of books will be offered, ranging from non-fiction to mystery, from suspense to romance, and from fantasy to science fiction.
“The majority of the books have been donated, while some have been withdrawn from the library,” said Friends of the Commerce Library President Patricia Hillebrand. “We have lots of things. No matter what you’re looking for, I’m sure you will find something.”
Paperbacks will sell for 50 cents each, while hardcovers will be $1. Special items, such as collectibles, will be between $2 and $5. Meanwhile, music and movies will go for a $1, and audio books will sell for $2.
A special will be offered on Oct. 22 with a “Fill-a-Bag” deal for $5. The bags are provided courtesy of Hiller’s Market.
“There is no limit. People can fill as many bags as they want (for $5 each),” said Hillebrand.
All proceeds go toward the library.
“We support many different programs of the library, including the summer reading program. We also purchase special items for the library — whatever they need,” Hillebrand said.
And Oct. 23 will be an even better bargain since all unsold books will be free as part of an “Everything Has to Go” sale.
“We’re starting something new this year,” Hillebrand said. “At the end of every book sale, we always have some things left over. So from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, everything is free on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no limits. We want everything to go if possible.”
The sale will be held in the activities room of the library.
