Knights crowned; Warriors, Eagles tie; St. Mary's wins

Walled Lake Northern is the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division champion.

The Knights clinched the division with a 1-0 victory at Walled Lake Central on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Northern also had a scoreless tie at home against Waterford Mott on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

The Knights are now 9-3-4 and finished division play with a 6-1-3 record (21 points), just ahead of Central at 6-2-2 (20 points).

Northern hosted the KLAA West Division champion, Grand Blanc, in the KLAA Lakes Conference Championship Match on Monday, Oct. 10 after press time.

The winner will host either Novi or Canton in the KLAA Championship match today, Wednesday, Oct. 12.

District play begins on Monday, Oct. 17.

West Bloomfield tied Birmingham Seaholm, 1-1, on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to remain one point in front of Seaholm for first-place in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Blue Division.

Prior to last Wednesday, West Bloomfield also defeated Ferndale, 7-1, on the road.

Mark Shaona scored four goals for the Lakers in the win over Ferndale.

The Lakers now are 8-1-2 (26 points) in the Blue Division while Seaholm is 8-2-1 (25 points). West Bloomfield had one division match remaining against Pontiac on Tuesday, Oct. 11 after press time.

The Lakers will then conclude the regular season by hosting Utica Henry Ford II tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 13.

Walled Lake Western and Huron Valley Lakeland faced each other on Thursday, Oct. 6 with their match resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Troy Baertsonon scored for the Eagles in the second half off an assist from Scott Demorest before Jason Heitzig tied the match for Western.

Western started the week by coming back from a 3-0 halftime deficit to tie Walled Lake Central on Tuesday, Oct. 4, with goals by Alex Klocko, Steven Massie and David Espinal.

Meanwhile, Lakeland defeated Waterford Kettering, 2-0, that same day, with goals by Brandon Dennis and Baertsonon.

Western then tied Waterford Mott, 2-2, on Friday, Oct. 7, with Steve Massie scoring both goals for Western after falling behind 2-0.

The Warriors and Eagles finished division play tied for third in the KLAA North with 13 points apiece.

After losing to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard on Tuesday, Oct. 4, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s came home and defeated Summit Academy on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Brandon Fagnani, Dustin McAllister and Jordan Stasch each scored for the Eaglets, who will host Clarenceville tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 13 to conclude the regular season.
