Family of drowned Milford man set to benefit from event

A memorial canoe paddle and lunch will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 to honor the memory of a Milford resident who drowned while trying to save a teenager from drowning near a dam along the Huron River. Deputy clerk will be ‘the face of the office’ in Walled Lake

Tamara Williams, who was hired as a temporary clerical employee in Walled Lake four months ago but was given a permanent position three weeks ago, will be the new deputy clerk following the departure of former clerk Cathy Buck to take the clerk’s position in Wixom. Prior to coming on board with Walled Lake, Williams worked for four months as the city of Oak Park deputy clerk, but she has been assisting with elections since she was 16-years-old. Milford man pointed guns at wife, police say

Milford police arrested a 29-year-old man for aggravated/felonious assault after he allegedly pulled two guns on his wife before he was tackled to the ground by his two brothers-in-law. The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 9:53 p.m. at a residence on Cooley Lake Road. Village changes approach to lake fish stocking

The village of Wolverine Lake will be stocking feeder fish, including golden shiners and fatheads, rather than sport fish in the waters of its namesake this year. Vetter Park work set to be done this fall, under budget

Projects at White Lake Township’s Vetter Park are well under way and being completed well under the initial conservative cost estimates, according to township officials. The Oakland County Board of Commissioners, controlled on a 15-10 majority by Republicans, is slated to consider the adoption of the county’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2011-12 budget, but not without a couple amendments proposed by Democrats tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. The county’s fiscal year begins on Saturday, Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30, 2012. A few changes have recently been recommended by the state Natural Resources Commission (NRC) to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regarding an order on the catch reporting regulations for commercial minnow, wigglers, and crayfish catchers. West Bloomfield rules on chickens DOA at meeting

The West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees voted Monday, Sept. 12 to approve the township Planning Commission’s recommendation not to adopt an amendment to a township zoning ordinance that would have allowed residents to house chickens in residentially-zoned areas.
