Steady offense propels Our Lady past Riverview GR

Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes won its home opener, 28-7, over Riverview Gabriel Richard on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Lakers scored a touchdown in all four quarters, as Jake Doetsch scored two rushing touchdowns, with each coming from 5 yards out.

Sean Thomas then scored on a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Vinny Puma scored on a 5-yard touchdown run.

“We had a lot of good things happen and overall we’re playing better,” said Our Lady Head Coach Mike Boyd. “We’re not where we want to be yet, but we’re getting there.”

The Lakers improved to 2-1 and earned their first victory in Detroit Catholic League Intersectional 2 Division play.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Lakers will welcome Birmingham Detroit Country Day to their home field. The Yellowjackets are currently 1-2 on the season, but have won between 8 and 11 games during the previous five seasons, including a 9-1 record.
