West Bloomfield Township Fire Department personnel responded to a house fire around 3:44 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at a residence on Grove in Keego Harbor.
The fire that caused approximately $85,000 in damages and caused minor injuries to a firefighter is currently under investigation.
According to a press release, the homeowner heard a loud bang and found the fire. He then tried to extinguish it himself before calling 911.
The homeowner then escaped the residence with one pet, but other pets died in the blaze.
Fire crews from six stations arrived at the scene and found the fire in the home’s utility room. They were able to extinguish the flames without them spreading to other nearby homes.
