Cyber Academy deadline nears for interested teens

The Friday, Aug. 5 deadline for open enrollment at the Waterford Cyber Academy is approaching, and academy officials will be attending the WDIV-TV Michigan School Expo at the Oakland Mall on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 from noon to 6 p.m.

The Cyber Academy is offering open enrollment for students in grades nine-12 in the Waterford School District and Schools of Choice students who live in Oakland County and other qualifying school districts.

The academy’s headquarters is located in the Covert Center on Scott Lake Road, across from Waterford Mott High School.

The academy consists of 130 core, elective and Advanced Placement courses that students can take on their own scheduled time, with no daily attendance required.

Courses can be taken at home, in the Covert Center, or at a computer in a public library.

The academy recently completed its first year with over 100 students enrolled.
