Woman arrested for the theft of $191 in goods

A 60-year-old South Lyon woman was arrested and incarcerated Monday, July 4 in Wixom after she allegedly violated the terms of her probation by attempting to steal a myriad of items from the Meijer store on Grand River Avenue.

According to a Wixom Police Department report, Meijer loss prevention officers reportedly observed the woman select a number of items while roaming through the store. She was allegedly putting them in her cart or concealing them in her purse.

At one point, she allegedly was observed entering a fitting room and removing packaging from several DVD cases. The cache was valued at $191.

The suspect reportedly passed all points of purchase without paying for the merchandise when loss prevention officers stopped her.

Wixom police placed her under arrest, issued her a retail fraud citation and carted her away to jail.
