From White Lake Township Police Chief Edward Harris:
On June 23, the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education recognized Officer Michael Simsack, as well as the White Lake Township Police Department, for the continued support of the School Liaison Officer position at Lakeland High School.
The award presented to Officer Simsack acknowledged his ability to relate to students, staff, and the administration. Officer Simsack’s dedication and hard work led to this well-deserved recognition.
In addition to Officer Simsack’s award, the police department was also recognized for our involvement in the school liaison program and our commitment toward its success and its future.
I am extremely proud of Officer Simsack for his work in this position. I am also proud of all the previous school liaison officers who share responsibility for the success of this program.
Most of all, however, I am grateful to the voters in White Lake. Last November, you approved an additional millage to maintain the staffing level of your police department. That was a tremendous show of support during these difficult economic times. Without your support, the school liaison program, as well as several police officer positions, would have been eliminated.
Your vote last November solidified your desire to maintain the strength of your police department and I will do everything that I can to ensure that level of police service.
