Shopping event in downtown Milford set for July 8-10

The public is invited to “Shop, Rock and Stroll,” this weekend in downtown Milford as Main Street will be closed between Commerce and Liberty from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10 for the annual event.

From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, many of Milford’s downtown businesses will be offering sales and discounts in their stores or on the streets.

“It’s a sidewalk sales event with discounts on seasonal merchandise as we get set for the fall,” said Aaron Goodnough, owner of For Feet’s Sake and a member of the Milford Business Association.

While the adults shop, there will be activities for children, including blow-up rides, slides and other entertainment.

“We’ll have crafts and face-painting for the kids,” Goodnough said.

Many of Milford’s downtown restaurants will also be offering dining on the sidewalks, and there will also be live musical performances by several local groups.

“The Gravity Bar will have a beer tent on hand and the Aaron Vaughn Band will be performing there on Friday and Saturday,” Goodnough said.

“Shop, Rock and Stroll” has been a village tradition for over 50 years and has become an institution, along with the village Farmers’ Market, which takes place on Thursdays during the summer from 3 to 8 p.m.; and Milford Memories, the annual festival that is scheduled for Aug. 12-14 this year.

The Milford Criterium bicycle race is also upcoming, and is scheduled for July 31 downtown.
