From the Denise “Chip” Black, Milford:
A state’s budget is both a moral statement and a vision for the future. The budget for next year reveals a failure to accept moral responsibility on the part of Gov. Rick Snyder and his cohorts in the state Legislature. Their budget offers a bleak vision for the future of Michigan. It demonstrates that corporations are valued over human beings, the rich are more worthy than the needy, and education will leave more children “behind.” If Michigan fails to provide the resources to enable children to become gainfully employed and be proactive citizens, our state fails our nation.

Hey idiot….. Who creates JOBS in this country…… SMALL BUSINESS…… And when business / small businesses are taxed more and more what do they do………… PASS IT ONTO THE CONSUMER which effectively raises prices across the board. Education and all their “perks” well as the pay and benefits of the ever increasing number of civil servants have become UNSUSTAINABLE in the US economy, and you’ll be hard presses to ever see them return to the PHAT levels once seen before. Taking that account the number of civil servants that have been terminated and / or laid off in the past several years, just where and whom do you think will eventually end up hiring these people ??? Yeeep… That’s right…. Business and small business in the state………. or NOBODY. If you had ANY CLUE how complex and burdened companies are in this state, you’d be shocked and would be quick to shut your mouth as you to would quickly understand just why so many businesses in this state have closed their doors, left for other states that are more “tax friendly” or are barely making it as it is. Instead you sound like yet another pampered, sheltered and CLUELESS civil servant with the a-typical attitude of entitlement that has sunk this state.
Bottom line……….. The taxpayers of this state are either GONE, unemployed or so broke that they can’t find jobs and can’t afford your ridiculous salaries and benefits any longer. So until you find a better solution or a “mystery money tree”, suggest you do some more homework about the business tax structures in this state before spouting off any longer.

Hello: This article writer has “moral statement and vision for the future” all wrong. The problem is the obvious. Who is to pay for the programs when the money is no longer there? Like a business, government has to cut spending too. Take an easy example, if a business kept spending when it didn’t have the income, it would eventually fail and close its door. The final result would be that all of its employees would be out on the street. If the business cuts spending, it can return to being profitable at the expense of a few employees versus all of them. Now If government doesn’t have the income, it can either cut spending or just raise taxes. But how long do you and I have to put up with raised taxes? I think the Governor understands the moral statement – don’t make it worse for the future – get back on track like a normal business or family.
