Huron Valley Milford’s boys basketball team has showed why it’s important to perform great in the classroom as well as on the basketball court.
The Mavericks were ranked by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan as the No. 1 academic team in Class A with an average grade point average of 3.66.
Milford finished ahead of Traverse City Central (3.64) and Grand Haven (3.60) in the rankings.
According to Milford Head Coach Chip Lutz, the honor was based on eligible team players who were on the varsity squad for at least 10 regular season games and on the varsity team for the Michigan High School Athletic Association state tournament.
This year’s members of the Milford Mavericks varsity basketball team included Alexander Lawson, Brandon Wallace, Joseph Miller, Jonathon Drury, Brandon Bell, Parker Millington and Christopher Orr.
Also on the varsity team were Jordan Hayward, Christopher Cubel, Steven Sloboda, Quintin Sellers, Jason Hugan, Bradley Howe and Gavin Long.
