Neighbors' feud yields assault charges for one

A Walled Lake man is pressing assault charges against his neighbor for allegedly attempting to run him over with a car and in the process damaging the victim’s lawn mower.

On Monday, May 30, the victim was grilling outside his home in the 700 block of West Walled Lake Drive when his neighbor allegedly charged his vehicle at him at a high speed, coming within inches of striking him.

In the process, the neighbor reportedly hit the victim’s lawn mower and damaged the power handle.

According to a Walled Lake Police Department report, the victim has had ongoing problems with the neighbor, but has not spoken to the man in several months.

The neighbor denied any wrongdoing. When police asked him about the lawn mower he reportedly stated, “Let’s just call it an accident.”

The suspect allegedly refused to complete a police statement, so officers informed him that detectives would be in contact with him.

An hour later, police were dispatched a second time to the address because the suspect allegedly picked up the victim’s lawn mower and hurled it at him.
