Huron Valley Milford advanced to a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) district final on Saturday, June 4, but fell to host Hartland, 5-0.
Milford trailed 1-0 for most of the game before Hartland tacked on four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Jacob Lee allowed 5 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings of work for Milford.
“Jacob threw a great game and we just could not give him any run support,” said Milford Head Coach Brett Vaughn. “We had plenty of opportunities to push across a run or two but could not execute a sacrifice bunt when we needed it. I was proud of the way we played, staying close with a team like Hartland.”
Earlier that day, Milford defeated Holly, 2-1, in a district semi-final. The score was tied at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning and Milford had two outs before it put together three straight hits. Davey Zilinskas and Josh Corey each had RBI singles to give Milford the lead.
Beau Prey threw all seven innings, giving up 4 hits and a pair of walks while striking out 5 batters.
Before defeating Milford in the district final, Hartland eliminated Milford’s rival, Huron Valley Lakeland, 8-2, in a district semi-final.
