Lakeland defeated Grand Blanc on the road in 9 innings, 7-6, on Monday, May 23.
Selena Hicks pitched a complete game for the Eagles, as she gave up 10 hits, 6 runs and struck out 8 batters.
After Lakeland (30-7) fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, Jessica McNabb scored for the Eagles on a Grand Blanc error handling a Kelly Merkle fly ball.
Maddie Burgess then drove home Sierra Burke in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2.
Grand Blanc responded with two runs in the fifth inning before Lakeland came back with three runs in the sixth. McNabb drove home Morgan Craft on a bunt single and an error on the same play allowed Burgess and McNabb to score.
The Bobcats then tied the game in the seventh inning and forced extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth inning, McNabb drove home Craft in the ninth for the game-winning run and Hicks was able to close out the Bobcats for the win.
Lakeland was scheduled to play at Canton on Friday, May 27, after press time, and began play in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) district tournament on Tuesday, May 31 in the Hartland district, where the Eagles will be joined by Huron Valley Milford, Holly, Fenton and host Hartland.
Also on Monday, May 23, Howell shut out Kettering, 5-0; Waterford Mott defeated Pinckney, 7-5; Walled Lake Central held off Huron Valley Milford, 4-2; and Brighton drilled Walled Lake Western, 8-1.
