A drunk driver struck a woman’s vehicle head-on in a collision in the area of Airport and Highland roads on Friday, May 13.
Waterford Township police arrived on the scene at 11 p.m. and spoke with the 20-year-old Waterford woman who stated she was driving southbound on Airport Road when a car in front of her suddenly swerved out of the way of a northbound vehicle which was crossing the center line and heading for her.
The vehicle struck her car head-on. The woman did not sustain any injuries.
Police determined that the 25-year-old male driver of the northbound vehicle had been driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly failed sobriety tests. He was arrested at the scene and conveyed to a local hospital for a medical evaluation before being lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
Police reported that the had a blood-alcohol content of 0.21 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
