Walled Lake Western has taken control of the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division race with strong performances in two key division games last week.
The Warriors (8-1-1) began the week with a 4-0 victory over Huron Valley Lakeland on Tuesday, May 3. Jenny Shaba and Rachel Good each had two goals in the victory for Western.
The Warriors then took on second-place Walled Lake Northern on Thursday, May 5 and fought to a 1-1 draw against the Knights.
Good scored Western’s goal unassisted on a corner kick before Kendall Juhnke scored late in the second half to tie the match for Northern (5-1-4).
Western is now 5-0-1 in the KLAA North with 16 points, while Northern is 3-1-2 with 11 points.
Northern also had a scoreless draw against Walled Lake Central on Tuesday, May 3, and shutout Huron Valley Milford, 5-0, on Saturday, May 7.
Northern hosted Huron Valley Lakeland yesterday, Tuesday, May 10, while Western will hosted Waterford Kettering.
Western will then travel to Waterford Mott tomorrow, Thursday, May 12 while Northern will host Waterford Kettering that same day.
