Mavericks finish rough week with win over Mott

Huron Valley Milford lost its first three games last week before ending the week with a victory.
Milford began with a 6-5 loss to Waterford Kettering on Monday, May 2, as the Mavericks gave up a double and a single in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Captains scored the game-winning run.
The Mavericks (7-9 overall, 4-6 in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association West Division) then took on Hartland in a KLAA West doubleheader on Wednesday, May 4. Milford fell 6-2 in the first game and was shutout 13-0 in the nightcap.
However, Milford was able to finish the week with a 6-3 win over Waterford Mott on Friday, May 6. Kevin Bailey pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits in 7 innings of work. Luke Johnson hit a home run, a triple and 2 RBIs in the win, while Jacob Lee had a single and a double.
“We had a tough week, but we don’t have time to dwell on it as we have the possibility of playing up to 9 games this week against Lakeland (May 9), Pinckney (May 11), South Lyon East (May 13), and a tournament at Clarkston on Saturday (May 14),” said Milford Head Coach Brett Vaughn. “We have to get right back after it and try to accomplish our team goals for this week.”
