The theater departments at Waterford Kettering and Waterford Mott high schools will be presenting their spring productions in the next couple weeks.
Kettering will be performing its version of the Neil Simon play “Rumors” from Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14, with all shows starting at 7 p.m.
Mott will then follow with its production of “Steel Magnolias” from Thursday, May 19 to Saturday, May 21, with all shows starting at 7 p.m.
“Rumors” tells the story of several affluent couples gathering for an anniversary party. They discover an important dignitary has been shot and a hostess goes missing. The events that follow occur in sometimes hilarious fashion.
The character of Chris Gorman will be played by Madison McCafferty, while Ken Gorman will be played by Zack Morgan. Claire Ganz will be played by Ryanne Shiner and Lenny Ganz will be played by Bradley Smith.
Cookie Cusak will be played by Autumn Gairaud, while Ernie Cusak will be played by Greg Pattillo.
Cassie Cooper will be played by Maggie Morgan, Glenn Cooper will be played by Ben Boynton, Officer Welch will be played by Jordan Masek II, and Officer Pudney will be played by Grace Hazlett.

“Steel Magnolias” is a play written by Robert Harling and was made into a movie in 1989 starring Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton and others. It tells the story of a group of women dealing with trials and tribulations in Louisiana.
Truvy Jones will be played by Olivia Brado, while Annelle Dupuy-DeSoto will be played by Kylie Stidham.
Clairee Belcher will be played by Desiree McAtamney, while Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie will be played by Maddie Ike.
M’Lynn Eatenton will be played by Allison Weller, and Ouiser Boudreaux will be played by Halley Anspach.

Back in February, Kettering put on its stage production of the novel “Of Mice and Men,” while Mott presented its version of the musical “Oliver.”
Scott Finn is the theater arts teacher at Mott, while Chris Tyle is the theater instructor at Kettering. Steven Kosinski is the theater consultant for Waterford Schools.
