Woman says she was raped at a party

Milford police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that reportedly took place in the early hours of Sunday, April 17 at a house party.

The 23-year-old female victim told police she went with her father to her stepbrother’s house on Rivendell for a party to reminisce about the passing of her step-mother. While at the party, she met the male suspect, 28, whom she said she knew previously in high school. She told police that he seemed intoxicated.

She said that she didn’t make any physical or sexual advances towards the man and that there was no physical contact other than a high-five and the suspect putting his arm around her shoulder during a game of beer pong.

She added that she consumed five or six shots of alcohol, but didn’t black out. She soon fell asleep on the couch while her father slept on a chair in the nearby dining room.

She then said she later woke up to the suspect performing a sexual act on her. She told police she then pushed him backwards, got up and locked herself in a bathroom.

She said that she was in the bathroom for 30 minutes and then vomited. When her father woke up, he went to the bathroom and the suspect allegedly told him that the victim wasn’t feeling well.

The victim eventually let her father into the bathroom and said that the suspect touched her and that she wanted to leave. The suspect disappeared from the house when the victim and her father left the bathroom.

When she came home, the victim’s mother drove her to the University of Michigan Medical Center to pick up a rape kit.

The case remains open pending an investigation.
