Suspect in carjacking of 84-year-old charged

A 26-year-old Commerce Township man suspected of carjacking an elderly woman outside a Waterford Township drug store on April 5 has been arraigned on three felony counts, including carjacking and unarmed robbery, after he was apprehended by Detroit police in an unrelated surveillance operation last week.

Jeremy Paul Strehl was arraigned on Thursday, April 14, in 51st District Court and given a $1 million cash bond. He has been lodged in the Oakland County Jail.

Police claim that Strehl carjacked the woman outside the Walgreens store located at 20 S. Telegraph Road. The victim’s 1998 green Toyota Corolla was located during the Detroit police operation last week. Strehl allegedly used the victim’s credit cards at a Commerce Township business.
